Hello there! My name is Samriddha Basu, but most people just call me Sam. I am a Researcher at the Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore (NUS), working on projects involving AI and LLMs — currently focused on healthcare research-governance tooling built in collaboration with the National University Health System (NUHS). Previously I worked with the Asian Institute of Digital Finance, a university-level institute in NUS, jointly founded by The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the National Research Foundation (NRF) and NUS.
With a love of tech and a flair for code, I am interested in developing experiences for the new age of technology. While I love tinkering with tech, I am also quite adept at weaving words into poetry. A couple of my poems have been published in anthologies by the British Council!
AI Research Associate, Dept of Computer Science, NUS
Mar 2024 — Present
Research and development of LLM- and RAG-based systems for healthcare and enterprise. Currently building ECOS Helper, in collaboration with the National University Health System (NUHS): an LLM/RAG system that extracts relevant information from healthcare research proposals and assists researchers in preparing and reviewing ECOS forms for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, supporting research-governance workflows while retaining human and institutional judgement.
Previously developed a contract management platform with AI features including chatting with contracts, autofill forms, comparing drafts, and risk analysis (LangChain, RAGFlow, FastAPI, React), and an automated video editing pipeline using state-of-the-art AI/ML for multi-language short-form content.
Graduate Research Assistant, NUS Systems & Networking Lab
May 2023 — Dec 2023
Built a Flask-based webapp providing investment advice based on ChatGPT's analysis of stocks and financial indicators. Collaborated with a distributed team across Singapore and China.
Software Developer & Data Engineer, Credit Suisse
Jul 2021 — Jul 2022
Used Palantir's Foundry platform for cloud-based big data analysis on high-volume trade datasets to generate Market Risk insights. Primary owner of a code repository serving as interface between data pipeline and visualization dashboards.
Technology Analyst, Credit Suisse
Jul 2019 — Jul 2021
Jul 2020 - Jul 2021: Developed Java/Spring Boot backend for Market Risk dashboard, improving scalability and reducing data processing time by ~50% (from ~20 hours to ~10 hours).
Jul 2019 - Jul 2020: Built C#/.NET-based tool for managing FX and Derivatives trades.
